Experience the Magic of Praia do Rosa!

"...with over 100 million years in the making, this exclusive land property becomes available to be your own paradise, an untouched eco-system unlike any other in the World!" -Rodrigo Streliaev.

Praia do Rosa, a crescent-shaped bay with sand dunes, has claimed a definitive stake in the hearts of nature lovers from all over the world. Located just 44 miles south of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina State capital, Praia do Rosa is a unique and fascinating destination, enchanting with its natural beauties. A bay with limpid waters, surrounded by lagoons and hills covered with preserved vegetation, it displays privileged scenery in the Brazilian coast.

With a laidback, yet elegant atmosphere, Praia do Rosa has what it takes to please all kinds of beachgoers: southern right whales from July to November, summers that attract lots of beautiful people, surfing, ecotourism, charming bungalows for romantic getaways or family travel and good restaurants on narrow dirt streets.

Discovered by surfers in the seventies, the beach “Rosa” - as it is known - was elected in 2003 one of the most beautiful bays of the world, where efforts to preserve the ecosystem as well as the native culture were integrated into the development plans of the bay as a tourist destination, creating a controled infrastructure of lodging, gastronomy and leisure structures.

A place for everybody!

One of the qualities of Rosa’s Beach is to be a destination appropriate for all ages, tastes and budgets. Besides its beauty, the beach offers ideal conditions to practice sports, particularly surfing and windsurfing. For those who prefer less radical activities, hiking/tramping, horseback riding, lagoon and waterfall baths are available to enjoy.

Delightful lagoon baths for the kids, surfing lessons for beginners, nature trails for the adventurers, invigorating and thrilling aquatic sports, a gastronomic itinerary for demanding tastes, very comfortable inns, fashionable bars, good-looking people and lots of nature for your reflection. The diversity of options makes this region of the Southern coast of Brazil a certain destination to many people, for over 30 years.

As a rare gift of nature, between July and November, the beach is visited by the Franca whales that chose the region to mate, give birth and nurse their offspring. A spectacle in which few places in the planet can offer!

Rosa’s Beach is one of the Franca Whales favorite places and where they chose to mate and give birth, transforming the region into a real “Whale Nursery” for this species. Attracted by its warm waters, they are the main dancers – from July through November – of a rare beauty ballet. This spectacle gave rise to “Whale Watching,” a type of tourism dedicated mostly to people interested in observing whales in their natural habitat. Whale Watching has been practiced since the eighties in some countries and it combines leisure and environmental conscience. This practice is establishing itself as an ally of the practice of sustainable development.

The tours take place in special boats, they last approximately one and a half hour and they include the presence of an IBF (Instituto Baleia Franca/Franca Whale Institute) monitor. They allow tourists to watch the whales and their offspring swimming in parallel to the coast, many times exposing the enormous flipper of the tail, performing impressive jumps out of the water, or even nursing their calves. You can also observe this from the beach and from more elevated places, with the help of binoculars, since the animals come within 30 meters of the seashore.
Rosa’s Beach, which is part of the Franca Whale Environmental Protection Area (Área de Proteção Ambiental – APA, da Baleia Franca) has become one of the places where Whale Watching is winning more enthusiasts each year. It has inspired environmental conscientiousness in both children and adults alike.

Praia do Rosa is a member of the Most Beautiful Bays of the World Club, a non-governmental network which aims to contribute to the preservation of unique bays.

The Most Beautiful Bays Of The World!

Praia do Rosa is the only Brazilian bay to be part of the select group Club des Plus Belles Baies du Monde ( www.world-bays.com ), an NGO situated in Vannes, France, which comes with Unesco’s official seal.

Founded ten years ago, the Most Beautiful Bays of the World Club has the purpose of contributing to the development of sustainable tourism, economically and socially, through an experience exchange among its participants. Currently, only 28 bays are part of this institution and the criteria for inclusion aren’t merely aesthetic but also concerned with questions related to natural and cultural heritage. Rosa’s Beach achieved this designation in 2003, because it is part of the Franca Whale Environmental Protection Area (Área de Proteção Ambiental - APA da Baleia Franca) because it’s the nucleus of the Atlântica Forest Biosphere Reservation (Reserva da Biosfera da Mata Atlântica), it created the public management’s project for a sustainable development, and finally, for its natural beauties and commitment to environmental preservation. Because of their configuration in the shape of arches, the bays convey a sense of symbolic union between the ocean and the land, wonderfully illustrating the natural interchange of the fauna and the flora. In 2007, Rosa’s Beach attracted attention of the international community, since it hosted this Club’s 4th World Congress, in October.

Welcome to Praia do Rosa! A sanctuary that preserves its roots; and, at the same time, receives tourists from all over the world with comfort. A rare balance between ecology and sophistication.
